The days are getting blissfully longer and the mornings are starting earlier every day. It seems to get easier to get up and get going in the morning when the sun is coming up with you.
Of course now that the animals are getting more anxious and energetic after being cooped up for so long, they seem to find ways to get into trouble. This morning when I went out to do chores something just didn’t seem right. And then I figured out that the horse was on the cow’s side of the barn and the bull was on the horse side. So after a few minutes of asking a prodding them back into their own areas, (one does not TELL a bull to do anything) I fixed the wire that had fallen and got everyone fed and watered.
So I am off today for a long day of campaigning in Peshtigo at the GOP 8th District Caucus gathering and then on to help out over at the Woods in Green Bay where there is a terrific event to benefit the March of Dimes.
I see in the news that Madame Pelosi is still attempting to force through some terrible deal to get the Government Takeover of Health Care Act passed. They just don’t get it do they. If it is so hard to get even your own members to sign on, then there must be something terribly wrong with it. We know that, and I will vote to repeal this disaster if it somehow gets through. We have better ideas how to reform the system. I support the efforts and plans that Paul Ryan has proposed and would support them when I get to Washington.

OK, I officially declare that it is unfair to tease us with these hints of Spring weather in the middle of February when we know darn well it’s too early to hope for change…ooops, sorry for that not so veiled reference.

Spent a large part of the day yesterday and on late into the night working on our campaign bus/motorhome transformation. Check out what the finished product is supposed to look like. We intend on being everywhere we can all summer long proudly displaying the symbol of our Constitution, and earning your support to be your representative in Congress.

We need help to pay for the materials and the operating expenses, so if you can spare a few bucks to “Back the Bus”, then please contribute to our efforts at www.savardforcongress.com and make this a team effort all across the district showing our respect and reverence for our Constitution and our Country. We hope to appear in every small town and village and gather folks together to stand up for our beliefs in freedom and liberty, just as the Sons of Liberty did in 1773, throwing a Tea Party to protest what they saw as an assault on their rights and way of life.

So join with us as our Army of Davids gathers strength and numbers…….for our Country’s sake.

And don’t forget to add to your schedule the 2nd Annual Green Bay Tea Party scheduled for March 20th at Leicht Park, next to Titletown Brewing Co. on the Fox River at 11am.

Back the Bus!

Everyone on the Farm is really getting anxious to stretch their legs and get outside. But since we live near the 45th parallel we have a ways to go before we can think of Spring.
The 2 Cows are starting to really show their pregnant condition, and we can start to watch for the signs soon.
The 50 laying hens bedding is starting to get pretty thick and could use a cleaning out, but the farmer hasn’t been home very much to give it a go. And the horse is definitely ready to run and play, but she too has to wait.
We have had the seed catalogs out on the kitchen table and today is the day to start planning for the season. As many businesses have to do, we have to make some educated decisions on how the markets will fare for us this summer and what our labor availability and cost will be, and then decide what to grow. We are not too optimistic on how things will go for the tourist industry this coming year. With unemployment still near %10 and folks lacking confidence in our Federal and State Governments ability to control their spending, we need to be very careful about our own.
Tomatos, lettuce and beans are always part of the farm’s bounty, but with this farmer being a dirty rotten politician this summer we will have to make some concessions to reality and time on what we can handle. Last year we raised near 1000 broiler chickens, yet we will have to decide if we can do that many this year. And we will place our order for a few piglets to raise for our years supply of pork products.
So we will watch the weather, begin to clean out the greenhouse for the April 1st start up, begin to think about tapping some trees for our years supply of Maple Syrup and think Spring!

A friend of mine from high school just won his IL-8 Congressional Primary. Congratulations Joe. www.walshforcongress.com

His campaign of volunteers and the Army of Davids across America are rising up and building momentum every election. The parallels are amazing to our fight here in WI-8. He is a proud Tea Party Candidate, running in a crowded 6 person field. He was bucking the Washington establishment and was not endorsed by the National GOP. Yet he won. He won!

We are building our team and our campaign to do the same thing right here in our district. The message is the same. Washington is broken and We the People are ready to go to the polls and say enough is enough. Enough spending beyond our means, enough taking from those who have and giving it to those who won’ t work to earn a living. And enough to career politicians who care more about saying yes to those who give them large cash contributions than saying No to big government programs that our country can’t afford.

We are gearing up for another Tea Party in Green Bay at Leicht Park on March 2oth at 11am to “Keep the Momentum Going”. Mark it down and come out to join with your fellow citizens who are fed up and ready to Defend What we Believe In. Our Country needs us.

By far the biggest political news of the week, and maybe even the last several months, was the victory of Scott Brown. To have predicted one year ago after the Obama wave hit the political scene that a Republican would have won in Massachusetts would have been crazy.
Well, lightning struck the political landscape and it is our job now to continue the momentum through the summer and on into the November elections. I have been doing what Scott Brown did for over a year now, and I have witnessed the same energy and commitment right here in the 8th District. People are angry and fearful of where their country is headed and they want to do something about it.

For our campaign, the Tea Party we helped organize almost a year ago, before it became more popular, was early evidence of just such a purpose. Now I believe it is time to continue that momentum.
We are going to call for a Second Green Bay Tea Party for March 20th in the park next to Titletown Brewery, where the first gathering of over 1000 Partiers occured.

I believe there is more reason than ever to “Keep the Momentum Going” by showing that we are not satisfied with one Senate seat. We want the whole Washington crowd to change and start listening to us.
So put it on your calendar and start spreading the word.
We are An Army of Davids and we are just getting started.

In keeping with the campaign mission of focus on the voters, the issues and the mission at hand, Marc has secured the support of Shawano County Sheriff Randall Wright, Marinette County Sheriff James Kanikula, and Door County Sheriff Terry Vogel in his race for the 8th Congressional seat in Wisconsin.

“I believe that Marc will take seriously ‘the pulse of his constituents’ and has the experience, knowledge, commitment, and integrity to best represent the residents of Marinette County and the 8th Congressional District in Washington,”

said Kanikula. Sheriff Wright agreed,

“I believe Marc Savard will listen to, and work for the residents of Shawano County. With 8 years of experience in county government, he understands the concerns and challenges law enforcement officers face across the 8th district.”

Sheriff Vogel is closely familiar with Savard’s work and echoed Wright’s statement,

“Marc served on our Law Enforcement committee here in Door County and has a proven track record of fiscal responsibility and working hard for his constituents.”

These three endorsements are one of many results of our yearlong grassroots campaign, where Marc has traveled to many communities in the 8th district and met with sheriffs and other citizens concerned about the future of the country. “I am honored to earn the support of such exceptional public officials,” said Savard. “County Sheriffs are on the front lines every day keeping us safe and watching out for us as we lead our daily lives. Sheriff Wright, Sheriff Kanikula, and Sheriff Vogel are fine examples of hard working individuals doing their best to serve their communities and their country.”

Scott Brown and the Internet

The Farm is in hibernation. The barn will need its midwinter cleanout today seeing as the cows do not stop eating and…well, you know what. The hens are working hard every day for our customers who appreciate the quality of a fresh farm egg. My family and I certainly are spoiled by the bounty that our farm produces for us and our extended family of customers from fresh eggs to broiler chickens, grass fed beef and seasonal vegetables. It is a lot of work, but well worth it for our health and the enjoyment of our friends.

The big news of the week has got to be the incredible run US Senate candidate Scott Brown has had in Massachusettes. The evidence that the world of campaigning has changed for ever is in his campaign and ours as we make use of the greatest feat of technological achievement in the past 20 years. The Internet has revolutionized communication, and thus campaigning so positively that now all of us, you and I, have the ability to join our political process and get involved with very little money, but a large desire to speak our mind and have our voices heard.

Scott Brown’s campaign is a lesson to all of us that local elections can be national events if the message is important enough for folks to want to participate. We have had support from all over the district, and continue to build that support every day. I am so excited that Scott is doing so well, because, whether he wins or not, the power of the people is alive and well and building across this great nation. By speaking out in small ways through contributions over the internet Scott Brown’s supporters have shown how to make a difference right from their homes.

I feel that this campaign is part of that great movement sweeping across America, where regular folks have had enough of Washington’s corruption and are speaking out to get us Back to the Basics this country was founded on.

Please help us continue the fight. www.savardforcongress.com

Failure to Stimulate

The sun is actually out, which has been such a precious commodity over the last several weeks of gloomy winter days. It makes such a difference to get up to a bright, crisp Wisconsin morning. The animals are fed and watered, the plan for the kids events and getting them to and fro throughout the day, is done, and now it is time for a few comments on the news of the week before we are off to the races.

After yesterdays report that unemployment went back up , it is time to officially declare, once and for all, that Government intervention, with large amounts of borrowed money, to “stimulate” the economy is a complete and utter failure. It was a failure under President Bush, it is a failure under President Obama. They do not work, and actually do harm.

There needs to be a Hippocratic Oath for politicians that says that they will first “do no harm” to the economy. Many times in my study of History have I read about Governments feeling like they have to “do something”, to make things better, to turn around the economy, to improve our lives. “I’m from the government and I’m here to help”, are words that all proper Conservatives fear most.

So let us all agree now, with a full two year period of frantic and misguided attempts by our benevolent leaders in Washington, that the evidence is in, and the numbers are clear, Stimulus Policies do not work.

In a groundbreaking effort to break the cycle of corruption that infects the political process in Washington, 8th Congressional District Candidate Marc Savard announced today that he will not accept campaign contributions from lobbyists or PACs (Political Action Committees). “We need to have candidates who will say ‘NO’ to contributions from narrow special interest groups and ‘YES’ to the voters he works for. People have lost faith in their elected leaders,” says Savard. “By not taking this money, I am sending a clear signal that each and every decision I make will be based on what is in the best interest of the people of the 8th Congressional District and the United States as a whole,” Savard says.

A PAC is allowed to donate up to $10,000 to a candidate, an amount that far exceeds the donation of an average voter. Savard asks, “Who is that Congressman going to be listening to when it comes time to decide on issues that affect his constituents and our country — the special interest group based in Washington giving $10,000 or the guy back home giving $25?” Savard believes the only way to break the cycle of corruption that has led to our current problems is to not take the contribution in the first place.

Savard is asking the people of the 8th District to “trust, but verify” his pledge by checking his and other candidate’s fundraising sources by going to the Federal Election Commission website at www.fec.gov. According to the October report, Congressman Steve Kagen himself has already accepted nearly $400,000 from PACs and special interest groups, with more rolling in daily. In fact, Congressman Kagen has more contributions from PACs and individuals outside of the 8th district than from the people he represents.

Savard was the first Republican to announce his candidacy for the 8th Congressional District election in 2010. He is known as the Tea Party Candidate and organized the State’s first Tea Party in Green Bay where more than 1,000 concerned voters attended.
