Foreign Affairs
While foreign affairs is primarily an executive branch function, and should remain so, the Congress has a role in appropriating funds to carry out the country’s policies. We must encourage and promote the ability of individuals across the world to be able to democratically choose their own form of government. Only when individuals are free and secure in their ability to choose their own leaders, will the blessings of freedom spread.
We are the greatest nation on earth. We light the way for all oppressed people by examples and deeds. We are the greatest contributors to the cause of international human rights the world has ever seen. We need to continue that tradition, by honoring the sacrifices and dedication that our armed forces have demonstrated across the world. As the benefits of freedom and democracy become contagious, and the oppressed peoples of the Middle East see how a healthy democracy operates, it will benefit our country’s national security to see that movement expand. The transformation of the so-called third world into democratic, economic dynamos in their own right, is also a positive direction for our country’s foreign policy to promote. The integration of the global economy and free trade principles will help to promote the world’s economic growth, and spread prosperity to all who want to participate.
In Afghanistan we must clearly define a victory strategy, fully support the implementation of that plan, and then bring our troops home. Halfway measures are unacceptable for our men and women on the front lines.
